Quick answer: this directory lists 11 Spain Non-Lucrative Visa providers, unranked, with paid profiles listed first. Use the filters to narrow by provider type, language and fees.

Spain's non-lucrative visa is a residence route for people who live on passive income and do not work in Spain. The main applicant needs 400% of the IPREM index, which is €2,400 a month or €28,800 a year in 2026 with IPREM held at €600 a month, plus €600 a month (€7,200 a year) for each dependent (Spanish consular services).

Since the 2025 immigration regulation (Real Decreto 1155/2024, in force 20 May 2025), renewing the permit requires living in Spain for more than 183 days in the calendar year. That presence also makes you a Spanish tax resident, so plan residence and tax together before you apply.

How to Choose a Spain Non-Lucrative Visa Lawyer

Ask each provider who the responsible Spanish abogado is, which bar records that lawyer, and how many non-lucrative cases the firm files at your consulate. Compare the named lawyer, the evidence review and who handles the residence card after arrival, not just the headline fee. Our verification methodology explains what a directory credential label does and does not prove.

A useful first assessment should give you a written view on whether your income counts as passive, how it will be evidenced, and whether your family's total clears the threshold. Remote work for a foreign employer is not passive income; if that is your situation, compare the Spain digital nomad visa lawyers instead.

    The 183-Day Rule and Renewals

Article 64 of Real Decreto 1155/2024 makes more than 183 days of real and effective residence in Spain in the calendar year a condition of renewal, and a renewed permit is valid for two years. If you want a part-time base in Spain, say so before you pay a retainer.

Spending more than 183 days in Spain makes you tax resident under Spanish income-tax law, taxed on worldwide income. Ask whether the firm's quote includes tax advice or whether you need a separate adviser.

What a Fee Quote Should Cover

Ask for a written price that separates the eligibility review, the consular application, family members, translations and apostilles, the residence card appointment after arrival and the first renewal. Consular fees, health insurance and document costs are separate from legal fees. Directory fee bands describe a provider's broader services where published; they are not a quote for your non-lucrative case.

Spain's investor golden visa is closed to new applications, so investors who mainly want residence often compare this route with the digital nomad visa. The broader Spain immigration-lawyer directory covers other residence categories.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much income do I need for the Spain non-lucrative visa in 2026?

400% of IPREM for the main applicant: €2,400 a month or €28,800 a year in 2026, since IPREM stays at €600 a month. Each dependent adds 100% of IPREM, €600 a month or €7,200 a year. The consulate also assesses where the money comes from and how it is evidenced.

Can I work on a Spain non-lucrative visa?

No. The holder may not work in Spain. If your income comes from remote work for foreign employers or clients, the digital nomad route is the usual comparison.

Do I have to live in Spain to renew the non-lucrative visa?

Yes. Since Real Decreto 1155/2024 took effect on 20 May 2025, renewal requires more than 183 days of real and effective residence in Spain in the calendar year (article 64). A renewed permit is valid for two years.

Do I need a lawyer for the Spain non-lucrative visa?

The rules do not require one. A Spanish lawyer is most useful when your income is mixed, your family is large, or your tax position needs planning before you become resident. Confirm the named lawyer's Spanish registration and get a written scope.
