    1. For both the Portuguese Golden Visa and any other type of residence authorisation in Portugal, applicants are required to submit a criminal record certificate.

      For applicants applying from the United States, the required document is the FBI criminal record certificate. Since this is a federal-level document, it must also receive a federal-level apostille.

      It is important to note that the criminal record certificate is valid for only three months from its date of issuance. This validity period is calculated from the date of the criminal record certificate itself, not from the date on which the apostille is issued.
